  • Armadillo’s Christian Community Gathers Following is an invitation from Pastor Raul Hernandez, Hill Country Bible Church NW Spanish Pastor:  “You are cordially invited to join the Christian community meetings at Armadillo RV Park on Sundays at 7 o’clock in the evening in the central park, patio area of the park.  There will be English classes taught, praise, and Bible study.  There is nothing more important in life than knowing Christ—that is what the Christian community of Armadillo is all about.    As Churches and Christian ministries in the Lake Travis area, we are uniting in order to bring the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Armadillo park community.  Some folk come to help with meals and clothing, others come to help with home repairs, others give English classes and child care, some have Christian movies, others preach, some study the Bible, and others throw parties for the community, but we all wish to invite the community to have an encounter with Jesus Christ”.  Saralinda Evans of SLOL is very involved in this ministry.  For more information about this ministry opportunity, contact her at 799.7485 or se@rwblaw.net.

What's Happening in the Austin Convocation

Thursday, 22 July  2010

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts The Cash Band, July 25, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (with a half-time break).  "To sing the songs of, and to honor, the legendary Johnny Cash:" this is the near-sacred goal of Paul Podraza and The Cash Band.  From the moment Paul belts out the first lines of "Folsom Prison Blues, you hear an uncanny resemblance to the voice and and presence of Johnny Cash.  Come hear The Cash Band.  This exciting group performs hits like Folsom, Ring of Fire, Walk the Line and others.  They also sing new ones like Personal Jesus, Goin' by the Book, and more.  The first part of the two-part show will be the more "secular" songs and the second half will be more gospel.  Special guest Bobby Johnson, who looks like Michael Jordan and sings like Charlie Pride--who he performed with--will sing gospel.  You'll love him--and you'll love The Cash Band.  ECR is located at 2200 Justin Lane; phone 512-459-0027 or visit <www.ecraustin.org>.  This concert is presented free of charge.  Donations will be accepted gratefully.  Wait 'til you hear Paul Podraza announce: "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash."  WOW!

St. Mary Magdalene, Manor, will be moving their Sunday worship services to the cafeteria of Manor High School (12700 Gregg Manor Road, Manor, TX 78653) starting Sunday, August 1 (10:30 a.m.), with their official "public" launch on Sunday, September 12 (10:30 a.m.).  Please keep this community in your prayers as they continue to prepare for this transition.  St. Mary Magdalene aspires to be a multi-ethnic Episcopal community that is transformed by God's generosity, and is inspired to share this generosity with others, by loving and serving one another, the surrounding community, and beyond.  If you would like to know more about this community, or ways you can help, please contact the Rev. Alex Montes-Vela at 512.423.8897 or alex@iamsmm.com.
