Altar Guild is responsible for setting up all altar items before and cleaning up after services. Altar Guild members serve on a team, usually once a month and as needed for weddings, funerals, etc. Altar Guild team leaders provide on-the-job training for new members.
Nursery volunteers assist the nursery staff, taking care of the children during services, Sunday School time and special events.
Children & Family Ministries
Teach or supervise children and youth during Sunday School time and other special classes. Curriculum and supplies are prepped ahead of time and ready in advance for teachers/supervisors. Serve every two to three weeks.
Sing at the 9:00 AM Sunday services. Choir attends rehearsal early Sunday morning and once a month on Tuesday evenings.
Contemporary Worship Band
Contemporary Worship Band (CWB) sings and/or plays at the 10:30 AM Sunday services. CWB rehearses Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.
Daughters of the King
Daughters of the King (DOK) pray daily for those who need emotional, physical and spiritual healing. DOK members participate regularly in worship, study and work of the church. DOK members assist the priests as directed including delivering bouquets of altar flowers to parishioners in the hospital or homebound, and supporting church families after funerals by preparing meals.
Floral Guild selects, purchases and arranges altar flowers for Sunday services. A two-person team serves every five weeks. Floral Guild breaks down and packages altar flowers after the 10:30 AM service for Daughters of the King to deliver to the homebound, hospitalized or grieving parishioners.
Greeters are the first smiling faces seen by arriving worshipers. Greeters warmly welcome all to St. Luke's On The Lake, giving special attention to newcomers. Greeters receive on-the-job training and serve at one service every few weeks.
Eucharistic Visitors (EVs) make pastoral visits and serve Holy Eucharist to members who are hospitalized, shut-in, or otherwise unable to attend church services. EVs serve once per month on a rotating basis.
Lectors & Eucharistic Ministers
Lectors assist with the assigned readings for Sunday worship services once every few weeks. Eucharistic Ministers assist with the distribution of the chalice of wine and paten of bread at Sunday worship services once a month.
Library helpers organize, catalog and shelve books and other media in the church Library. They also suggest books, CDs and DVDs and assist worshipers checking out Library materials. This group is available in the Library on Sunday mornings before the 7:45 and 9:00 AM services with coffee and cookies. Training is provided as needed by the Librarian.
The Missions Committee supports St. Luke's On The Lake long-term and short-term missionaries in the following ways: praying for/communicating with our missionaries, disbursing church-budgeted funding, keeping the parish informed of missions activities, holding fundraisers to make up for missions budget shortfall, and planning mission trips/activities.
The Outreach Committee discusses and determines the distribution of church-budgeted funding to outside outreach groups. They generally meet monthly for an hour.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
VBS is a week-long, half day summer program for nursery, preschool and elementary children. Children witness bible messages come alive through interactive centers, music and dramatic play. Volunteer activities: Complete brief, at-home prep projects, Help with prep days, Donate a scholarship or funds for general supplies, or Volunteer during the week of VBS.
Pastoral Care is divided into three teams: 1) a Card Team - sends cards/notes to people in order to lift them up as they go through both times of struggle and of celebration, 2) a Food Team - provides meals for parishioners and their families during illness, death in the family, or new baby, 3) a Visitation team of Lay Chaplains, trained by Community of Hope International (COHI).
Audio/Visual Team (Service Programming Team)
Volunteer activities: Serve on the audio/visual set-up team from 10:10 AM - 10:30 AM, Serve on the audio/visual tear down team from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM, Run MediaShout on Sunday morning (worship projection software), Attend Thursday night and Sunday morning rehearsal, Serve on the music team (audition required for instrumentalists and singers).
Ushers assist guests and members with bulletins, traffic flow and seating for worship services. Ushers help with giving directions, collection plates, taking head count, visitor cards and sanctuary clean-up. Ushers are assigned to and serve on a team every three – eight weeks. Ushers may be asked to serve for special services as well. On-The-Job training is provided by the Usher Team Leader.
The vestry is the church’s "Board of Directors". Vestry members serve staggered three-year terms. We elect new vestry members at the Annual Parish Meeting each January. Vestry candidates must be at least 18 years of age and enrolled, confirmed communicants in good standing at St. Luke's on the Lake. Parishioners are welcome to attend vestry meetings, usually held on the 2nd Sunday of each month after the 10:30 AM service.

Youth Group (EYC) Leaders/Helpers
Teach and/or help supervise Youth Group on Sunday evenings. Occasionally provide transportation to off-site activities. Provide snacks and light meals for Youth Group meetings.
