Thursday Bible Study: Praying the Psalms

Thursday Bible Study

Deep Calls to Deep: praying the Psalms

September 18th-November 20th

(not meeting October 16th)

Thursdays, 11am, Parish Hall

Led by The Rev. Anthony Suggs-Perea

The Psalms give words to express almost every aspect of human existence and our relationship with God. Joy and sorrow, love and pain, righteousness and repentance; the Psalms have room for all these and more. They have formed a bedrock for the prayers of God’s people for thousands of years, inspired breathtaking music and art, and continue to speak to us today. Join the Rev. Anthony Suggs-Perea on this journey to read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and pray with the Psalms. In this class we will explore:

  • when, why, and how the Psalms were composed

  • what we can learn about ourselves in them

  • what we can learn about God in them

  • how they have shaped our prayers in the past

  • how they might shape our prayers today and tomorrow
