Thursday Bible Study: Praying the Psalms
Thursday Bible Study
Deep Calls to Deep: praying the Psalms
September 18th-November 20th
(not meeting October 16th)
Thursdays, 11am, Parish Hall
Led by The Rev. Anthony Suggs-Perea
The Psalms give words to express almost every aspect of human existence and our relationship with God. Joy and sorrow, love and pain, righteousness and repentance; the Psalms have room for all these and more. They have formed a bedrock for the prayers of God’s people for thousands of years, inspired breathtaking music and art, and continue to speak to us today. Join the Rev. Anthony Suggs-Perea on this journey to read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and pray with the Psalms. In this class we will explore:
when, why, and how the Psalms were composed
what we can learn about ourselves in them
what we can learn about God in them
how they have shaped our prayers in the past
how they might shape our prayers today and tomorrow
