St. Luke's Cares: No One Walks Alone

St. Luke's Caresv2 (1).jpg

St. Luke’s Cares is a comprehensive clergy and lay-led pastoral caring ministry designed to provide spiritual, emotional, and practical support to members of St. Luke’s who are experiencing a life challenge—from childbirth to surgery to the loss of a job or the loss of a loved one. Whether you have been at St. Luke’s for five minutes or fifty years, our goal is that no one walks alone through difficult times.

What does that mean?

It means that all members of St. Luke’s have access to support ministries that include meals, flowers, prayers, cards, and Lay Eucharistic Visitation. Our hope is that by coordinating our pastoral response to your needs, we will better insure you will never walk alone.

What about the clergy?

We are very much still present with you and for you in ways you choose to allow us. We will walk with you and utilize St. Luke’s Cares to help us better pastor the wonderful community of St. Luke’s.

What do I expect?

When you are experiencing a pastoral need, you will be contacted by a trained “Care Connector” who will walk with you and help you get connected with pastoral resources at St. Luke’s. You will also hear from a member of the clergy. Our goal is to make sure you are not walking alone through your event.

What do I do?

The one thing we ask is that you contact the office if you are in any need. The staff will listen and then make the connection to St. Luke’s Cares on your behalf. If you call on behalf of another member of the congregation, please make sure you have their permission, since it is not your information to share. Call the church office at 512-266-2455 or email us here.

Volunteer Information for St. Luke’s Cares

St. Luke’s Cares is a comprehensive caring ministry designed to provide spiritual, emotional, and practical support to members of St. Luke’s who are experiencing a life change - from childbirth to surgery to the loss of a job or the loss of a loved one. Building on and synchronizing with the wonderful work already being done by our existing pastoral care ministries - including the Daughters of the King, and the Lay Eucharistic Visitors - as well as individual members of our congregation, St. Luke’s Cares will offer coordinated care to our members in need (known as care receivers). Whether you have been at St. Luke’s for five minutes or fifty years, our goal is that no one walks alone through difficult times.

We need volunteers for the following teams:

  • Prayer Ministry – Team members pray intentionally during their personal prayer time for a list of current care receivers.

  • Card Ministry – Team members send personalized cards of comfort and encouragement to one or more assigned care receivers.

  • Meal Ministry – Team members provide a meal or two to an assigned care receiver. (We encourage those who enjoy cooking, especially those willing to cook recipes that accommodate dietary restrictions, to join.)

All members of St. Luke’s Cares ministry teams will receive training, orientation, and ongoing leadership and support specific to their roles. Team Leaders will work with team members to accommodate their availability and balance the load.
